Hunter Lake Campgrounds...

We are official campers! Thursday night Stephen brought the camper up to Hunter Lake so we could take our kids on our first camping trip with our new summer home. I LOVE IT. I love everything about camping. The kids have so much freedom, the fresh outdoors, fishin, swimming in the lake, playing in the sand, the kids riding bikes, eating ice cream, walking, walking, walking (there's soooo much walking to do), the giggling, campfires, smores, barbecuing, and new friends that are made at every campgrounds that we go to. I actually have several trips already planned this summer

We had a VERY momentous milestone this past weekend too---Dylan woke up and decided that he didn't need his training wheels on his bike anymore. The very nice man at the campsite across from us took the training wheels off of Dylan's bike and away he went! It was within 1 minute he was riding without assistance! I was floored! He's such a big boy now and is extremely proud of himself.

Next trip is this weekend with destination unknown...camper is ready to go we just have to figure out where to head...got to love 4th of July!

Brynn's dentist appointment

I was very pleased with my daughter Brynnie at the dentist yesterday. I have dental anxiety when I know I have to schedule an appointment but my little girl was thrilled to have her teeth cleaned. She checked out all of the gadgets that the dental hygenist Carol had out on the tray and was more than happy to open wide to show her beautiful teeth. We unfortunately have to go back to see the dentist next week for a filling but I'm very confident that this dentists office is one we will be using for years to come. No more trips to Westchester!

Graduation 2010

In case you were wondering, yes I did cry at graduation yesterday (shocking right?) What a fantastic job Dylan's class did during their ceremony. They counted to ten in French, sang a couple of songs, recited two bible verses and watched a slide show. At the completion of their little ceremony, the "graduates" exited quietly out of the room, put on their caps (with tasles attached) and walked down the aisle to Pomp and Circumstance.

I am so proud of my son. I am going to miss his teachers terribly but preschool is just a stepping stone and Dylan has to move on to the next part of his life--kindergarten.

Dental visit for Kindergarten

Surprisingly it is now a NYS requirement for your child to have a dentist visit prior to beginning school. In my opinion it is a good regulation since most children don't see a dentist regularly. Dylan has had some traumatizing experiences with dentists in the past and we typically drive to Westchester so he can see Dr. Patel who specializes in pediatrics. I have been looking for someone closer to home (and tried SEVERAL local dentists that were not acceptable). My aunt suggested Dr. Cohen's office in Harris. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Carol from his office! She is a woman with the ability to relate to children, explain things and get the job done! Dylan was smiling when we left the office and told Carol he will see her in 6 months.

The end of Little Gym....

It breaks my heart that The Little Gym in Middletown is now closed for good. This place has been such a wonderful experience for my son and daughter and I was hoping that Emily would have the opportunity to jump and play like her siblings have. I guess the economy is taking a toll close to home and the woman had to close shop. Brynn has a real talent for gymnastics. She will be taking dance in the fall but maybe I can find something during the summer so she can embrace her god given talent. Here's some pics from the ribbon ceremony two weeks ago.

Kindergarten orientation

There's only one week left of preschool for my little boy. We've been talking up kindergarten for the last couple of days to get him excited about orientation. He couldn't wait for me to pick him up from school yesterday so he could check out the NEW school. However as soon as we walked in, I think he was a little overwhelmed. We went to the Kindergarten classrooms, checked out the cafeteria, the "hill", met the music teacher and went to the library. Dylan was less than thrilled. I think he was dissappointed because he didn't get to see what school bus he is going to be assigned to. He did play with two friends from t-ball that I was surprised he would be in the same grade with. I snapped a pic of him eating his snack...i think his face sums up what he thought....

Gilbert Lake

Shame on me for not taking lots of pics on this trip! What a beautiful, clean place! I was seriously stressing out about taking my 3 small children camping (especially Emily). We met our "boondocking" buddies last Friday at the campgrounds and I have to say we had a ball! There was more than 20 kids between all of us! Sunday night we had a Hawaiian themed night where we all sported the tackiest Hawaiian shirts we could find and had a luau. I was able to only get a pic of Emily rocking out her hair clip--all of the girls wore them. I admit now I have the camping bug and we are going to be doing a lot of outdoorsy stuff this summer! I was beyond happy that we rented a pop up for this weekend--I don't think a tent would have done it for us

Class trip '10

After this trip was cancelled twice, and a weather forecast that didn't look too promising, the LLCS Pre K class was finally able to go to SDTC. The Center has a fantastic imaginarium which is geared towards children of all ages. My son and a couple of his classmates went to the same place last year but were just as excited as the rest of the class to go again. Dusty the pony was the highlight of Dylan's day. He got to "drive" the horse. He pet a turtle, 3 day old baby ram and rabbit (he didn't want to touch any of the other animals--I don't blame him really) We ended the day at McDonalds where we met daddy and had lunch. I cannot believe my little guy is done with preschool in 12 days!
